Commissioning a custom portrait is simple. Here's what to expect, from your initial photo to the finished artwork.
How It Works
Simple, guided process from start to finish.
STEP TWO
Approve the Layout.
I'll send a mockup of your portrait for you to approve dimensions, any photo edits, frame options, etc. Once you love it, you'll submit payment to save your spot.
STEP THREE
I Create Your Portrait.
I'll take it from here! All artwork is created by hand from your reference photo using soft pastels.
*Minimal handling is strongly encouraged to prevent smudges, even after fixative is applied. Framing is available at an additional cost.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Makes a Good Reference Photo?
Reference photos do not have to be perfect, but some things that help are a) a well-lit subject, b) an upright head pose, c) little or no obstructions, and d) clarity (no pixelation or blurriness.) If you're deciding, feel free to run your options by me, and I'll be glad to give suggestions.
